Challenges

We embarked on an ambitious journey to finalize the requirements and design an application for metro gates, facing challenges unique to metro devices and a dynamic environment. The success of our team hinged on several critical factors.

In–depth technical workshops

The project required extensive technical documentation and a deep dive into the business domain. Collaborating closely with our client, we aligned our understanding to accurately meet the app's expectations.

This collaboration included workshops, where we reviewed a vast amount of documentation together and explored various event scenarios for different groups of employees. A detailed analysis and thorough questioning regarding technical issues and user flow were essential to cover all possible usage scenarios.

User testing and safety–centric design

Conducting user testing with actual end–users was a pivotal point for aligning certain features to effectively meet real–world needs.

We prioritized security in our design. During user testing, we discovered that details, such as the placement of a single button, could significantly impact emergency responses and overall security. This necessitated meticulous attention to detail and a profound understanding of protective protocols, ensuring that every aspect of the app's design focused on the well–being of users and passengers.

Seamless communication

Ultimately, maintaining open and smooth communication channels proved to be pivotal. Regular updates and discussions on Slack and during calls ensured that everyone, from our team to the client, stayed on the same page.

Takeaways

This project was not just about designing an app; it was about ensuring the safety and efficiency of metro operations. Proactive communication with the client and collecting user feedback through user testing were crucial steps in achieving the expected outcome.
